🏠 Week 9 Home Check Reminder

Welcome to Week 9 of the Weekly Home Check

Time for a fridge refresh! Let’s clear out any expired food, give the inside a good clean, and vacuum those refrigerator and freezer coils to keep everything running smoothly.

🧽 Deep Clean Your Refrigerator

  • Empty Shelves: Unplug and take out all the items from your refrigerator, one shelf at a time.
  • Check Expiry Dates: As you remove items from the fridge, check their expiration dates. Discard anything that's no longer good.
  • Vacuum: There are likely lingering crumbs and food particles, so vacuum them up.
  • Wipe Down: Use a mixture of warm water and dish soap to wipe down shelves, drawers, and compartments. Don't forget to clean the door seals!
  • Organize: Categorize your items, placing those that will expire soon at the front for easy access.

🧊 Vacuum Refrigerator/Freezer Coils

Over time, dust and debris can accumulate on the refrigerator coils, especially if you have pets. Dirty coils will impact performance and increase your energy bill, so be sure to clean them every 6 months.

  • Unplug the Appliance: For safety, unplug your refrigerator or freezer.
  • Locate the Coils: Find the coils—usually located at the back of the appliance—behind a grill or panel, then unscrew the panel.
  • Vacuum: Use a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to gently remove dust and debris from the coils. Always refer to the owner's manual for any specific instructions.

Tip: Search for your owner's manual on Google and link it in your Home Journal & Log Book for easy access.

Welcome to Week 18 of the Weekly Home Check Three months have flown by, which means it’s time to swap out those air filters and clean the air purifiers again. 💨 Replace HVAC Filters For air return vents/grids: Locate the metal grid inside your home.
