🏠 Week 19 Home Check Reminder

Welcome to Week 19 of the Weekly Home Check

This week, we’re focusing on preventing water damage and mold—sneaky issues that can cause major trouble for your home and your health if left unchecked.

💦 Water Damage:

  • Inspect ceilings, walls, and floors for any signs of water stains, discoloration, or warping.
  • Check around windows and doors for signs of leaks or water infiltration.
  • Examine your roof for missing or damaged shingles, as well as signs of water penetration.
  • Use a moisture meter to determine if there is excess moisture in walls or ceilings.
  • Call a plumber if you suspect any type of water leak.

🦠 Inspect for Mold:

  • Mold will grow in any area with moisture, such as bathrooms, kitchens, basements/attics and HVAC's.
  • Reduce the possibility of mold growth by eliminating leakage from any water source.
  • Place mats, trays or water sensors under sinks to capture any leakage that may go unnoticed.
  • Look for signs of mold growth, including dark spots, discoloration, or musty odors.
  • If you discover any mold, take immediate steps to address the issue, such as cleaning the affected area with a solution of water and vinegar.
  • In many instances, contact a professional for testing and remediation.
