🏠 Week 37 Home Check Reminder

Welcome to Week 37 of the Weekly Home Check

If you are like me, your BBQ grill probably got a lot of use this past summer. This week, let’s take some time to clean it before storing it for the winter, or for some of us, getting ready to keep using it all season long!

πŸ– Cleaning the Grill:

  • Scrub Grates: Use a grill brush and plastic scraper to remove residue and grease from the grates.
  • Remove Parts: Take out the grates, flavorizers, grease traps, and any other removable parts, besides the burners. Let them soak in a bucket of hot water, dish soap, and degreaser.
  • Heat & Scrub: Turn on the burners for about a minute to warm the inside and spray with a degreaser. After a minute, scrub with a microfiber towel and stainless steel brush. Repeat as necessary. Be warned, your microfiber towels will get very dirty and will likely need to be thrown out.
  • Wipe Down: Spray the inside with water and wipe off any remaining degreaser. Rinse and replace all the parts.
  • Condition the Grates: Heat the grill, then apply some canola oil to a paper towel and wipe a thin layer of oil across the each grate bar.
  • Outer Surfaces: Clean all the outer surfaces with a stainless steel cleaner, going with the grain.
  • Tip: Be sure to wear some gloves, cleaning the grill can get very messy.
