🏠 Week 36 Home Check Reminder

Welcome to Week 36 of the Weekly Home Check

This week's task is very simple: checking the water pressure. Proper water pressure ensures your plumbing system functions efficiently, protecting your pipes and appliances.

Before we dive in, let’s spotlight our sponsor for this week:

πŸ›  Why It's Important to Check Water Pressure:

  • Too High: High water pressure can damage appliances, such as washing machines and dishwashers, and lead to burst pipes or leaks over time.
  • Too Low: Low pressure can make everyday tasks like showering or doing dishes frustrating, and may also indicate other underlying plumbing issues.

🌑 Steps to Check Water Pressure:

  1. Get a Water Pressure Gauge
  2. Attach the Gauge: Screw the pressure gauge onto the faucet or hose bib. Make sure no water(including laundry) is running inside your home.
  3. Turn on the Water: Turn the faucet to full open, and check the gauge for the pressure reading. Ideal home water pressure is typically between 40 and 60 psi
  4. Adjust or Fix Issues if Needed:
    • Below 40 psi: Your pressure is low, which might affect the performance of appliances and showers.
    • Above 60 psi: High pressure can damage your pipes and appliances over time. You may need to install a pressure regulator or adjust your existing one.
    • As always, contact a plumber for professional advice

Tip: Keep a record of your plumbers contact details and any plumbing maintenance work in your Home Journal & Log Book.

Stay tuned on social media this week for a video on testing the water pressure.
