🏠 Week 34 Home Check Reminder

Welcome to Week 34 of the Weekly Home Check

Let’s show the bedroom some extra love! It’s time to rotate and vacuum the mattress and give your pillows a good clean—it’s been six months!

But first, check out this week's sponsor, which helps keep these reminders free.

🛏️ Rotate & Vacuum the Mattress

A good night's sleep starts with a well-maintained mattress. Rotating your mattress not only guarantees even wear but also contributes to a better night's sleep. Vacuuming removes dust, allergens, and debris that accumulate over time.

  • Rotate/Flip: Depending on the mattress, either rotate 180 degrees or completely flip over to promote even wear on both sides.
  • Vacuum: Use the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner to thoroughly vacuum the entire surface of the mattress.
  • Spot Clean: Use 3% hydrogen peroxide to spray on any stains and then gently rub with a damp microfiber cloth. For any tough stains, follow with a spot cleaner with water only.
  • Deodorize: For any lingering smells, use an odor eliminator spray then flush with your spot cleaner.
  • Dry Completely: Before making the bed, allow the mattress to dry completely. I'd suggest doing this task first thing in the morning.
  • Pro Tip: Invest in a mattress cover. This will help protect your mattress and make cleaning it much easier.

😴 Clean the Pillows

Pillows play a significant role in our sleep quality, so let's give them some attention too.

  • Check Care Labels: Different pillow types require different care methods. Check the care labels for any specific instructions.
  • Machine Washable: Most synthetic pillows are machine washable. Use the bulk cycle with free & clear detergent, and add an extra rinse cycle to remove all soap.
  • Down and Feather Pillows: These should be professionally laundered or spot cleaned, as excessive water can damage them.
  • Memory Foam: Spray a microfiber towel, not the pillow, with a mixture of dish soap and water, then dab any stains. Wipe with a clean damp microfiber. Avoid getting these pillows too wet.
  • Drying: Ensure your pillows are completely dry before using them again. Use low or no heat and add dryer balls to fluff.
  • Pro Tip: Get some pillow protectors. These will protect the pillows and help reduce any allergies.

Wishing all the homies an awesome week! Don’t forget to tag me in your photos and videos when you check off this week’s task!
