๐Ÿ  Week 2 Home Check Reminder

Welcome to Week 2 of the Weekly Home Check!

With the holidays behind us, itโ€™s likely our oven and stove were used quite a bit. Thatโ€™s why, this week, our task is to clean the oven and stovetop. Letโ€™s get going!

Pick up these needed supplies on Amazon, Walmart or Lowes.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Clean the Oven(without chemicals):

  1. Wipe or vacuum out any loose debris from the bottom.
  2. Place 2 cups of distilled water in an oven-safe dish on the lowest rack. Run the oven for 15โ€“20 minutes at 450 degrees, then allow the oven to cool while closed.
  3. Wipe down the entire oven with a damp cloth.
  4. Remove the oven racks and follow the instructions in the next section.
  5. Prepare a mixture of baking soda and a little water to form a paste, then scrub the entire oven. This will take a lot of elbow grease. The โ€‹ScourDaddyโ€‹ is a safe and effective scrubber to use on your oven. TIP: Many times there will be some built on food at the bottom. You can also use a razor scraper to get this off. Be sure to keep the surface well lubricated with soap or water, and go slowly and gently.
  6. Wipe away any remaining residue with a damp microfiber towel.
  7. Replace the racks and enjoy a clean oven.

I do not recommend using the self-clean function. It heats the oven to a very high temperature, which can damage the oven and pose a fire hazard. If you do use it, always remove the oven racks, as the high heat can damage the enamel.

๐ŸŒŸ Clean the Oven Racks:

You can watch the full video of me cleaning the oven racks on my YouTube Channel.

  1. Place racks in a tub or large plastic container. (If using the tub, put down towels first to prevent scratches.)
  2. Drop in 1-2 dishwasher cleaning pods and fill with the hottest water possible.
  3. Let soak for 6-8 hours.
  4. Scrub off any remaining stains with a ScourDaddy or wet pumice stone.
  5. Rinse, dry, and replace.

๐Ÿซ– Clean the Stovetop:

Gas Stovetop

  1. Remove burner grates, caps and drip pans.
  2. Soak them in warm water water with some dish soap and scrub clean. For any tough stains use a wet pumice stone.
  3. Wipe or vacuum any loose debris from the stovetop.
  4. Apply some Dawn PowerWash or Scrub Daddy Power Paste to the strove top and let sit. Scrub and wipe clean.
  5. Any remaining hard stains can be removed with a wet pumice stone.

Glass Stovetop

  1. Wipe or vacuum any loose debris from the stovetop.
  2. Scrub the top with some Dawn PowerWash or Scrub Daddy Power Paste, then wipe clean.
  3. For tough stains, use a wet pumice stone or wet razor blade to scratch off.
  4. Wipe dry with a microfiber cloth.

Electric Coil Stovetop

  1. Remove the electric coils.
  2. Scrub with some dish soap on a washcloth. Never submerge or soak the coils in water.
  3. Tough stains can be cleaned with a baking soda and water paste.
  4. Wipe off any soap or baking soda with a damp cloth and allow to dry.
  5. Lift the stovetop to wipe or vacuum any debris underneath the burners.
  6. Remove and scrub the drip pans with some Dawn PowerWash or Scrub Daddy Power Paste. Rinse and dry.
  7. Scrub the top with some Dawn PowerWash or Scrub Daddy Power Paste, let it sit, then wipe clean.
  8. Replace all parts once dry.

I hope these clean ovens and stovetops make some delicious meals for you and your loved ones.
